The drawings are different. Civil engineering blueprints come in larger formats — many are extended A0. Thicker paper. Dense with annotations, elevation marks, and grid lines. The first question most buyers ask: what’s the best way to divide five drawers? From what we’ve seen working with engineering firms, here are the common setups:

By project — one drawer per active project. Works well for teams juggling multiple smaller jobs. Flip the label card and you know what’s inside.

By phase — feasibility → preliminary design → construction documents → change orders → as-builts. Best for large single projects where drawings are organized by workflow stage.

By discipline — structural / civil / mechanical / electrical / plumbing. Suits design firms with multi-discipline coordination.

Mixed — top three drawers for active drawings, bottom two for historical archives or blank stock.

A highway project’s drawing volume is counted in pounds, not sheets.

Geotechnical reports. Design drawings. Change orders. As-builts. A mid-size bridge project easily runs into hundreds of A0 sheets. Fill all five drawers, and the total weight clears half a ton.

150kg-per-drawer rails aren’t a safety margin. They’re there so that when you load your heaviest drawer, the slides still move smoothly — no catching at halfway, no sagging under load.

For reference: a ream of 500 A0 sheets (80gsm) weighs about 25kg. Fill a drawer with six reams of drawings, and the slides run smoothly with no noise.

One detail you might not think about: paper stacked over time develops pressure marks at the bottom. Our drawer bottoms have stamped reinforcement ribs so the load distributes evenly. No center sag. Drawings that sit for years come out as flat as the day they went in. That matters for long-term as-built archiving.

Most of our customers use a hybrid approach: one or two flat file cabinets in the field office for active drawings, digital archive for completed projects, and hard copy as-builts stored flat in the cabinet for long-term preservation.

Jobsite Conditions Are Harsher Than an Office

Site trailers, project field offices, and job shacks — these aren’t climate-controlled buildings.

Hot and humid in summer. Dry and dusty in winter. Coastal projects add salt spray corrosion into the mix.

Cheap steel cabinets start rusting within a year in these conditions. Wooden cabinets are worse — they absorb moisture, drawers swell and jam, panels warp and separate. We have had customers tell us their old wood cabinets became unusable after one season on a jobsite.

Cold rolled steel with electrostatic powder coating: the metal goes through phosphate pretreatment first, then gets a baked-on plastic coating. Not paint. Powder coating bonds differently — a scratch won’t peel into a flaking patch. We run a 72-hour salt spray test before shipment. No blistering, no coating detachment.

What to Expect When It Arrives by Sea

From our factory in Luoyang to your port: 25-35 days to North America, 15-20 to the Middle East, 10-15 to Southeast Asia.

Packaging: the cabinet is wrapped in moisture barrier film, corner protectors on all four edges, then a heavy-duty corrugated carton. Not plastic wrap twisted around the corners.

When it arrives: inspect the exterior first. Any dents or damage during transit? Open each drawer and check the slides. If something is wrong, send us photos. We ship replacement parts for transit damage at no cost.

Setup: no assembly. Unwrap, position it where you want it, adjust the leveling feet, and you are done. Two people can go from crate to operational in under 15 minutes.

Anti-Tip Without Floor Anchors

Site offices move. When a project wraps, the cabinet goes to the next location.

Anchor-bolted cabinets leave holes in every floor they have sat on.

This cabinet does not tip because of its structural design — weighted base, balanced center of gravity, drawer stops that engage at full extension. Pull out the top drawer all the way. The cabinet stays planted. Push it back in, the stop releases. No anchors needed.

Can I order one unit? Yes. No minimum order quantity.

How do you ship overseas? Fully assembled, moisture barrier wrap, corner protectors, reinforced carton. Regular sea freight routes to North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

Warranty? One year on the full unit. Slides, handles, and locks that fail under normal use within warranty are replaced free of charge.

Can you customize the size? Yes, but try the standard size first. 1300×930×650mm is optimized for A0 drawings. Changing the dimensions usually means compromising the fit.

Can you add dividers inside drawers? Yes. If you need to separate different drawing sizes or store tools in the same drawer, we can install internal dividers. Confirm dimensions before ordering.
